    Purpose of Position        

    Reporting to the AVP for Student Affairs, the director is responsible for the overall leadership of the department including the development of a long-term strategic planning process that will position Counseling and Student Wellness Services to obtain the wellness goals outlined in the University’s strategic plan including (but not limited to) goals of developing a student-centered focus with a full student outreach and education strategy; develop a long-term plan for sustainability; identification of a technology plan to include the on-going use of electronic health records; on-going development of in-house billing processes and identification of new revenue streams.

    In addition, the director serves as the primary advocate to senior leadership for Counseling and Student Wellness and is responsible for the daily operations and leading high quality mental health services, administrative supervision of staff, development and oversight of clinical policies and procedures consistent with all compliance and university regulations, and development and maintenance of collaborations across campus as well as with community partners.

    Finally, the director engages in clinical work to assist the Counseling Services staff in meeting the mental health needs of students.
