Xavier University is seeking applications for a 9-month Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) position in the Department of Counseling to begin August, 2018. 

The department has 5 full-time faculty members and offers a CACREP-accredited MA in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling characterized by a community engagement and social justice focus. 

Successful candidates for this position must have at least five years of experience working as a school counselor in a K-12 educational setting. An earned doctorate in counselor education from a CACREP accredited university is preferred.

Responsibilities:

· Teach, advise, and mentor students in the MA counseling programs, particularly students enrolled in the school counseling program

· Actively contribute to the continuous development and assessment of the overall school counseling program

· Assist with coordination of field experience for school counseling students, including maintaining contact with site supervisors and university supervisors

· Maintain current relationships with school districts and community partners to contribute to recruitment efforts on behalf of the school counseling program

· Provide service, outreach, engagement, and leadership in the Department and College

Qualifications:

· An earned doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited university (preferred)

· Experience as a school counselor in K-12 schools (min. 5 years)

· Knowledge of the ASCA model

· Teaching experience at the university level

· Eligibility for licensure in Ohio as a professional school counselor

· Commitment to helping counseling students develop culturally responsive counseling skills that demonstrate awareness of diversity and social justice issues relevant to professional school counseling

· Involvement in professional counseling-related organizations
